Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough (5 June 1660 – 18 October 1744) rose to be one of the most influential women of her time through her close friendship with Queen Anne of Great Britain. Sarah enjoyed a “long and devoted” relationship with her husband of more than 40 years, John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough. Born Sarah Jenyns in Holywell House, St Albans, Hertfordshire.
